TARGETING AUDIENCE!
The Pinter Pause
The Beautiful Creation Which is The Pinter Pause!
"During the 1960s, Pinter became notorious–for his trademark: 'The Pinter pause. Actors and directors often find Pinter's "pauses and silences" to be daunting elements of performing his plays, leading to much discussion of them in theatrical and dramatic criticism,. Actors who have worked with Pinter in rehearsals have "reported that he regretted ever starting to write 'Pause' as a stage direction. It often lead to portentous overacting. A pause in Pinter is as important as a line. They are all there for a reason. Three dots is a hesitation, a pause is a fairly mundane crisis and a silence is some sort of crisis.
The use of screens in drama
Plays have a history of using visual trickery to obscure specific identities while presenting action. Ancient Greek actors wore masks and voluminous robes, and Jacobian theatre's often elaborate costuming and stage design elevated the drama's spectacle by occluding the performers. Technology has changed over the centuries, but the techniques remain similar. The best illusions spring from the simplest ideas. On the modern stage, silhouette screens add both mystery and visual appeal. In essence, this technique uses a screen lit from behind. Whatever appears between the light and screen is rendered visible to the audience as pure shadow.

Physical Theatre
We have now decided to add physical theatre into our performance. Physical theatre is when you tell a story using gesture and mime.
The means of expression seem to be more physical rather than textual, often augmented by musical elements. Many of these various Physical Theatre traditions share a collaborative devising approach to theatrical development and creation; various groups, such as DV8, Frantic Assemly, Forced Entertainment and the Double Edge Theatre all use differing but nonetheless devising-based processes.
Added extras
After looking over our script we have also looked at the finer details to perfecting our piece. At the start we have a long exagerated pause this creates tension and keeps the audience on the edge of there seats.

Imagine the long parade to the grave yard, the funeral on Tuesday the 13th of may.
Funerals are quiet with pretty flowers and Oh, what gorgeous boxes they pack them away in.
Then as we move inside the church his family are crying and wailing. what happiness this brings to me.
The grandaughter all innocent to her familys tainted past.
I’m wearing my bruises with pride, I took the blows to my face and my body and anywhere else he could get his hands on.
Then you would smile as his family take a pause of respect and you let out a small chuckle. (Lauren chuckle)
Now for the burial
They lower his box to the ground you revel in the silence that you’ve finally achieved. Oh how sweet that silence is
(Ashes to ashes. dust to dust ... etc)
How did you achieve the silence, rat poison? Smother? Knife in the back? A gunshot to the head? A slow death? Fast death? Easy death? Planned death? Drowning? Burn him disfigure his face

Today Me and Matt rehearsed a few scenes we had created to see how well the worked together.
We then decided on our characters personalitys.
Female- Easily lead, Hurt and looking for someone to talk to
We then decided on our characters personalitys.
Male - Dominant, manipulative, twisted and powerful
By the end of the whole performance our Characters completely swap roles, the female becomes more powerful and twisted. The male falls in love with her and this is how the females manages to gain all her control!

Stimuli
Hi, Matt and I are the only people within our drama class we used to be a cast of 9 .... now we are down to 2! :( but hey! were going to make the best of our year 13 alevel and here is the different stages we are going through to achieve an A .... A*
For our first piece!
This stimulus we have been givin is: Love.
For our first piece!
This stimulus we have been givin is: Love.
This line then made us think about a twisted love not for someone but for something they desire and share a love for.
The shared love then became of high focus. This shared love was not for any of the characters to experiance with eachother but for the same thing they loved which in our performance is 'Death' However each character is stiriving for something out of this. From the males point of view he is being able to control the women by manipulating her into killing her 'Ex'. The female is simply trying to get free from the control when what she does not realise that she is getting herself lost into a vicious cycle.
